A grant program that makes it easier for McMaster University instructors to create and integrate free, high-quality online textbooks and other digital educational materials into their teaching is back for a second year, with an increased amount of total funding available.

An upcoming Archives Alive event, presented by McMaster University Library and McMaster Alumni, is giving audiences an in-depth look at one of the most famous abolitionist newspapers in history.

The virtual talk takes place on May 6 at 1 p.m. and is entitled, "And I will be heard": Voices from the American Abolitionist Movement in the Liberator. Presented by Sarah Whitwell, the event focuses on the impact of the Liberator and how it provided space for Black narratives from 1831-65.

Janet Marie Rogers’ time as the Mabel Pugh Taylor Writer in Residence was … well, like so much in 2020, “unprecedented” is probably a good word.

Rogers, a Mohawk/Tuscarora writer from Six Nations of the Grand River territory, began her residency almost exactly a year ago – just as the world was going into lockdown with the first wave of COVID-19 infections.

The University Library is pleased to announce that McMaster has signed open access publishing agreements with PLOS Biology and SAGE through the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN).  As of January 1, 2021, McMaster authors do not have to pay Article Processing Charges to cover the cost of open access publishing in

Creativity in academics and the workforce is becoming increasingly important as it serves as an opportunity to present different perspectives in original ways, allowing ideas to be elevated in original settings.

Since 2018, the Library and McMaster Campus Store have partnered on the development and creation of custom courseware.

Beginning with spring term 2021, the University Library will become the initial point of contact for developing custom courseware — a compilation of course resources available in both a digital and physical format, to better leverage existing licenses and e-reserves.

The Library and Campus Store are committed to a seamless transition, with students having continued access to these materials.

McMaster University Library is once again providing undergraduate students with in-person access to six bookable state-of-the-art computers equipped with a range of specialized media creation software including Adobe Creative Cloud.

A limited number of bookable study spaces are once again available to provide students with physically-distanced workspaces and dependable wi-fi – away from the noise and distractions of their living situations.

After the end of the most recent lockdown, dedicated spaces on the ground floor of Mills Library are again available for quiet study Monday through Friday, from 1pm -5pm.
