An institutional repository of National Research Council (NRC) authored technical reports, conference publications, articles, and more that serves as a valuable resource for NRC researchers, collaborators and the public. NOTE: This repository does not include every NRC-authored publication.

The database provides more than 40,000 e-books, including the familiar O'Reilly titles with woodcut animal covers, plus 30,000 hours of video, learning paths, case studies, interactive tutorials, audio books, and videos from O’Reilly’s global conferences. Individual titles are also listed in McMaster's library catalogue.

Free patent search tool that when given a patent number, will return an image of the patent as a single PDF file. NOTE: Easier to use for images than the USPTO (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) website which requires that a browser plug-in be downloaded.

Provides online access to over 4,000 journals and 30,000 books published by Elsevier. Strong collections in the social sciences, pure and applied sciences, engineering, and medicine.  This service allows you to browse or search the journals and access full text articles (PDF & HTML).  McMaster has access to many, but not all titles at this site. 

Scopus provides broad indexing and citation coverage of academic journals, books and conference proceedings published worldwide. Delivering a comprehensive overview ofresearch output in the fields of science, engineering, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities, Scopus features smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research.

Covers subjects in the areas of behavioral sciences, biomedical & life sciences, business & economics, chemistry & material science, computer science, earth & environmental sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences & law, mathematics & statistics, medicine, and physics & astronomy.

SpringerLINK service offers full-text access to more than 3,000 e-journals (and other content types) covering disciplines in science, technology, health, engineering, environment, economics and law. McMaster has purchased the Springer Historical Archives with back issue coverage from v.1 onwards for most journals.

A digital library of 50 to 100 page electronic books that synthesize important research or development topics, providing concise introductions to new fields and methods of staying current on developments at university, corporate, and government labs. Individual titles are also accessible via the library catalogue.

Techstreet provides access to one of the world's largest collections of industry codes and standards, plus web-based workflow tools. McMaster currently subscribes to three ISO standards, which can be accessed by clicking on "View all products":

Coverage: 1976 to the present

Searchable, full-text database from January 1, 1976 onward (full-page images since 1790). To view and print patents in PDF for free, a viewer software needs to be installed. It is available from http://www.uspto.gov/web/menu/plugins/index.html. Select TIFF - Tagged Image File Format (used for Patent images) - click on Free and following instruction. Once downloaded, you can view patents in PDF by clicking on Images when viewing a patent. Patents can only be printed one page at a time with the free plugin software.

Coverage: 1976 to the present, but varies by database

Consists of several separate multi-disciplinary citation indexes (i.e., Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, Conference Proceedings Citation Index, Book Citation Index, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Current Chemical Reactions, and Index Chemicus) that can be searched independently or in combination. It ​indexes scholarly journals (including open-access titles) books and conference proceedings in all subject areas.

Coverage: Varies: 1995 onwards for many titles

Provides full-text articles from more than 1,600 journals and over 22,000 Wiley e-books in a wide range of subject. Titles are also listed in the catalogue.

WorldCat is the world's largest library catalogue, merging the holdings of over 72,000 institutions worldwide. Includes records for books, journals, maps, recordings, films, scores, and other materials located in public, academic, corporate, school and specialized libraries all over the world.
