LinkedIn Learning Club @ McMaster launches a new campaign for the month of October exploring the craft of creating and delivering captivating, persuasive, and impactful presentations.

This month’s selection of videos was hand-picked by Eline Gonzalez, a fourth-year bachelor of science student and LinkedIn Learning ambassador.

The Lewis and Ruth Sherman Centre for Digital Scholarship has launched its 2022-2023 workshops, with offerings from research data management to podcasting.

The free workshops are open to McMaster faculty, students, staff, and community members. Many workshops are beginner-friendly allowing those new to digital scholarship to participate in training opportunities.

The latest edition of the popular Archives Alive series is set to launch with a presentation on the wondrous peculiarities of the chapbook.

McMaster University’s sophisticated assistive technology space has reopened to students following a sizeable expansion.

Located on the second floor of Mills Memorial Library, the Campus Accessible Tech Space (CATS) provides equitable resources, facilities, and services to foster dignity and independence for McMaster students with various accessibility needs.

The space officially welcomed students back on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

After being closed for more than two years, the doors to Thode Makerspace have officially reopened.

Housed on the lower level of H.G. Thode Library of Science and Engineering, Makerspace offers all McMaster students, faculty, and staff a place to learn, collaborate, and experiment with a range of technologies.

The McMaster community was welcomed back to the experiential learning facility on Tuesday, Sept. 6 with an open-house style reopening.

The LinkedIn Learning Club @ McMaster is kicking off the fall term with a new campaign focused on personal health and wellness.

Throughout September, McMaster students can use their free LinkedIn Learning accounts to access a collection of videos on topics from prioritizing your well-being and creating routine to finding balance and calming the mind.

This month’s collection was curated by Eline Gonzalez, a fourth-year bachelor of science student and LinkedIn Learning ambassador.

Mills Memorial Library and H.G. Thode Library of Science and Engineering are open for the fall term, with several important updates to note.

Masking will continue to be strongly encouraged, but not required, inside campus buildings like libraries.

New this fall is dedicated masks-on study spaces in Mills and Thode libraries to accommodate students who prefer to wear their masks indoors. These areas will feature extra masks, wipes, and a limited number of public computers. Locations are listed below.

Amanda Leduc recalls the impact mentorship had on her writing and is now looking to do the same for others.

Leduc is the incoming Mabel Pugh Taylor Writer in Residence which sees an established Canadian author mentor creative writers from the Hamilton community.

She says she is excited to work with all types of writers during her residency.

“It is rewarding to be in a position where I can give back to the community and hopefully offer some good advice to writers who are starting out or looking for someone to review their work,” she said.

Even though her world has been turned upside down, Kateryna Babkina keeps writing.

As an accomplished Ukrainian writer currently living in exile, she continues to write not only to earn a living and shed light on the war in her home country, but also to maintain this part of her identity when so many aspects of her life have changed.

“When you are able to do what you used to do before the war, it’s better for you psychologically,” Babkina said.

Myron Groover, archives and rare books librarian at McMaster University Library, is set to kick off a new season of public talks presented by the Hamilton Association for the Advancement of Literature, Science and Art.

Groover will explore several early books at the public lecture, entitled, “New Books Will Be Needed:” History, Magic, and Nature in Early Print, taking place in September.
