Stephen Lewis, a longtime supporter and friend of McMaster University Libraries, died yesterday at age 88.

The William Ready Division of Archives and Research Collections holds the archive of the renowned humanitarian, diplomat and activist. 

This year’s Hamilton Reads selection has strong ties to McMaster University.  

The featured book, The Migrant Rain Falls in Reverse, is by Toronto-based author and McMaster alumnus Vinh Nguyen. 

The memoir explores themes of migration, identity, and belonging, creating space for readers to reflect on the diverse experiences that shape communities like Hamilton. 

Construction set for this spring and summer will temporarily impact library patron access to some areas of Mills Memorial Library.

The project includes the replacement of the windows and façade due to age and condition on the southeast sides of Mills Memorial Library. 

The library will remain open during this time. However, noise from construction is expected. 

Work is set to begin April 23 (the day after the end of the exam period) and anticipated to be concluded by the end of August, with the possibility of extending into September if needed.

Authors Lisa Richter, Elizabeth Ruth and Lisa Ko have been named the Mabel Pugh Taylor Writers in Residence over the next three years, each serving an eight-month term from September to May.

Looking for a good spot to prepare for final exams this April?  

McMaster University Libraries have you covered with a variety of study spaces and extended hours. Meanwhile, the Office of the Registrar has reserved a classroom on campus for online exams.  

Extended hours at Mills Learning Commons and Thode library start on March 23 and further expand on April 8. Mills and Thode libraries will switch to reduced hours after exams end on April 22.  

Patrons are encouraged to check hours online at the links below before visiting campus libraries.
