St. Alban's Anglican Church (Grand Valley, Ont.) fonds. -- 1875-2018.
St. Alban's church was consecrated in 1881. Since the 1940s St. Alban's has been administered as a point of Grace Church, Arthur, Ont.
St. Alban's is now part of Grace Church, Arthur.
The fonds consists of parish registers containing statistical records, Vestry, Young People's Society, Young People's Association, Ladies' Guild and Women's Auxiliary minutes, accounts and correspondence. Most of the fonds has been microfilmed on 4 reels of microfilm, numbered 119-120, 137-138.
Title based on content of fonds.
Fonds on deposit. Ownership of fonds resides with St. Alban's Church.
Finding aid available in hard copy and electronically.
Researchers are requested to use the microfilms. They must also sign an agreement of use form.
Further accruals are not expected.

Historical Notes
For a detailed account of the complex inter-relationship between St. Alban's, Grand Valley (formerly Luther Village); St. Clement's, Colbeck; Good Shepard, Bowling Green; and St. Paul's, Damascus, see the lengthy account in the Church Histories. From this account it would appear that missionary work began in the area during the 1870s, with the Township of Amaranth selected as the first centre and other buildings being erected at Farmington, Whittington Corners, the Bush, and Luther Township. Later the stations of Waldemar, Colbeck, and Bowling Green were added. The church at Grand Valley was consecrated in 1881. In the mid- 1880s Garafraxa Township was added to this charge, and it was at about this time that Whittington Corners was abandoned. St. Clement's, Colbeck, was opened in July 1884 and in January 1888 the Church of the Good Shepherd, Bowling Green, was consecrated. Colbeck was formed into a separate parish in 1902; it was closed in 1968, although regular summer services had been held there until 1967.(1) Since the 1940s(2). Alban's, Grand Valley, has been administered as a point of Grace Church, Arthur.
