Tours of Archives and Research Collections

Tours of Archives and Research Collections

We are pleased to offer tours of our Division to interested groups and individuals. Ever wondered what goes on behind the closed doors of the archives? Want to get a closer look at a medieval manuscript? Wonder what it would be like to hold a 500-year-old book in your hands? This is your chance!

Tours generally take about an hour and can accommodate individuals or groups of up to 12 people. One of our staff will show you through our secure collections areas – archival stacks, rare book shelves, and conservation lab – stopping along the way to emphasise selected items from the collection. Book a tour at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability; please note that requests from individuals or very small groups may be grouped together. Be sure to let us know if there are particular themes or items you would like us to focus on during the tour.

On occasion, special accommodations can be made for larger groups or those wishing to focus on specific collections or materials. Please get in touch for details.

Owing to time and resource constraints we reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking, but every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate requests.

To schedule a tour, please email us.

Request a Tour of Lyons New Media Centre

Want to bring a group of people or even just a couple of individuals through Lyons for a tour? We'd be happy to help! Fill out the Lyons Tour Request form and we'll see how we can accommodate you.

If you're thinking of a general tour to just learn about the space, resources and what we have to offer, we don't need a lot of notice (a few days to a week should be good, to make sure someone is around to help).

If you're wanting a demonstration or a more focused tour, please try to give us as much lead-time as possible.
