Limited Curbside Pick-up
- The service will only be offered when all other attempts to provide a user with an electronic version of all or some of a book have been exhausted.
- Titles available electronically through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS) program are not eligible for curbside pick-up, even if print is the requester’s preference, since doing so would result in ending our agreement with HathiTrust.
- The service excludes materials that are housed in locations that we cannot access during the pandemic (e.g., our Downsview storage facilities) and non-circulating collections (e.g., Archives and Research Collections, Russell Archives, Maps, Data, GIS).
- The separately-administered Health Sciences Library is participating in the curb-side service. For further information, please contact hslib@mcmaster.ca.
- Materials will continue to be requested using the REQUEST IT button in the library catalogue record.
- Recalls have been turned on. Please check your email for notifications.
- Book returns are not required, but are welcome to ensure we give as many users access to these materials as possible.
- Users may be restricted to a limited number of requests at one time, depending on the number of requests received, to ensure equitable access by all users.
- Curbside pick up is located at the Mills Library loading dock. Users must select a date and time using our calendering system. Links to our Curbside calendar are sent out via email to eligible users.
- Users will be asked to stay in their cars, and library staff will put books in their trunks.
