If you are encountering any issues selecting a timeslot from a schedule, try our accessible schedule application instead.
- If you are not already on the booking schedule containing the resource you want to book
- Select a schedule from the Dashboard page by clicking its button
OR
- Click Schedule from the top navigation bar and select Bookings. Then select schedule from the dropbox list.
- Select a schedule from the Dashboard page by clicking its button
- This will show you the available, reserved and blocked slots on the schedule and allow you to book resources that you have permission to.
- Find the resource, date and time you'd like to book and click on the time slot.
- You will be brought to the reservation details page where you can enter the details of the reservation.
- Click the Create button to check availability, book the reservation and send out any emails. You will be given a reference number to use for reservation follow-up.
When in the desired schedule, you will find the resources listed along the left side of the day’s schedule. To find out information about an individual resource, hover over the name of the resource in question to reveal a pop-up window (see Figure 1), which will include (in most cases) an image of the resource, as well as a description, special notes, restrictions, etc.

Sometimes the Booking page you are viewing is a little long as it has a lot of resources on it. You can filter what shows on the page using the Resource Filter options on the left side of the screen.
The available filters based on the context of the booking page you have loaded will show with red right-pointing arrow (see Figure 2).

Figure 2: Screenshot of the Resource Filter
Click on one of the red right-pointing arrows to open the full list of resources under a filter, then choose the resources you wish to show, using the checkboxes (click as many that apply to you). Figure 3 shows the Portable Green Screen is checked in this example.

Finally, click the green Filter button at the bottom of the Resource Filter to get a page that only shows the resources you have chosen. In Figure 4, we see that the results have filtered down to only show the Portable Green Screen.

Don’t forget to clear all filters when looking to book something else. If you leave the filters on, all other resources will be hidden from you. Click on the white Clear Filter button at the bottom of the Resource Filter box to clear these (see Figure 5).

Under Schedule there is an option to Find A Time. This gives you the ability to search for any available slot that meets your criteria. The default is to search for Any Resource, but if you untick that checkbox, you can search for specific resources, such as a particular tripod, as seen in the screenshot below. Choose a duration in hours and/or minutes, or choose a specific time (another checkbox), as well as the date or date range. Click the long green Find a Time button and you will get the results of your search.

From there, click on the desired date/time slot listed on the bottom half of the screen to fill in your booking request.
You can book all resources that you have permission as part of a single reservation. To add more resources to your reservation, click the More Resources link (this looks like a small plus symbol – see Figure 7), displayed next to the name of the primary resource you are reserving.
Figure 7: Screenshot of Reservation page showing the "More Resources link" next to the link "Change".
You will then able to add more resources by selecting them and clicking the Done button. (See Figure 9 to see what the Add Resources screen looks like.)
Once you have clicked the Done button, you will see the new resource listed next to the original resource you were trying to book, like in Figure 8.

To remove additional resources from your reservation, click the More Resources link, deselect the resources you want to remove, and click the Done button. (See Figure 9 to see what the Add Resources screen looks like.)

Crossed-off resources are resources that are unavailable during the time frame you have chosen. So in Figure 9, Tripods 2, 3 & 5 are crossed-off, so they are not available for the entire time frame chosen.
Additional resources will be subject to the same rules as primary resources. For example, this means that if you attempt to create a 2 hour reservation with Resource 1, which has a maximum length of 3 hours and with Resource 2, which has a maximum length of 1 hour, your reservation will be denied.
You can view the configuration details of a resource by hovering over the resource name.
You can update any reservation that you have created or that was created on your behalf, providing it is not set in the past at any point. Example, if booking hasn’t occurred yet, you can update the reservation. If the booking has started, even by a few minutes, you won’t be able to update it without contacting the resource owner (check for the contact email listed in the information pop-up for the resource).
Only Application Administrators can update reservations in the past.
Deleting a reservation completely removes it from the schedule. It will no longer be visible anywhere in McMaster University Library Booking System
You can delete any reservation set in the future, but you cannot delete a reservation that is in the past or partially in the past. Example: If you have a booking at 11am but it’s 10am on the same day, you should be able to delete it. If you have a booking at 11am but it’s now 11:15am on the same day, you won’t be able to delete or edit the booking.
Only Application Administrators can delete reservations in the past.
To delete your booking, click on it in the Bookings page to get to the Editing Reservation page. Once there, you will find a More button in the lower right corner between a Cancel and Update button. Clicking on it will give you the Delete function at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Once you click on the Delete option, you will get a Delete pop-up. You can add a reason for deleting the booking (optional) and then click the large red Delete button in the lower corner of the pop-up window
