McMaster University Libraries welcomes students from the Library Information Technician (LIT) Diploma programs at Mohawk and other Ontario Colleges to apply for a field work placement.
The field work placement will pair students with a mentor to learn about McMaster University Libraries and the many career paths within academic libraries. The student will work primarily in one location or department. Informational interviews and tours of areas such as our Makerspace, Lyons New Media Centre (Virtual Reality and Podcasting Studios), Campus Accessible Tech Space, Health Sciences Library, Archives & Research Collections, Lloyd Reeds Map Collection, etc. can be organized to align with the career objectives of the student.
Placements are dependent on departmental capacity and student schedule availability. Placement hours during evenings and weekends are generally not available.
