Box 3b
Scrapbook [1927-1963] with pasted in photographs of Hidy from birth until adulthood in Hungary, and many other family photographs. Also contains clippings and concert programmes documenting Hidy’s career in Hungary, Canada and United States.
Box 4
Awards and Honours:
Small Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary given to Hidy on March 15, 1993 by the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Canada. This is accompanied by certificate of merit and enclosed congratulatory letters and photograph in green leather cases.
Two honorary degrees given by Liszt Ferenc Zenemüèszeti (Franz Liszt University of Music, Budapest, Hungary) on the occasion of 50 and 60 years of service. Sept 10, 2010 and Sept. 13, 2010 in maroon leather cases.
Ontario Place Appreciation Award for participation at Ontario Place, 1971.
Book ends presented by McMaster University on the occasion of 25 years of service, 1990.

This box contains loose photographs. They are organized by subject, and have been placed into envelopes and file folders. Photographs include: early ones from Hungary, 1958-60; Orchestra in Vienna, taken in 1957; Marta Hidy Trio, pre-1960; Founding year students, ca. 1965 (includes group photographs, several of Ivan Reitman); McMaster String Quartet, ca 1970s; portraits of Hidy as a young woman to her retirement at McMaster University; one photograph of Hidy with Boris Brott, ca. 1970s; trip to Japan, 1980; Hidy’s last concert, 2003.
