Matt Cohen fonds. 11th and 12th accruals. –1939-2003; predominant 1960-2003. – 6.6 m of textual records and graphic material. – 34 computer disks. – The disks were numbered (1-4, 4a, 5-9, 9a, 10, 10a, 10b, 11-30) and contents of the disks printed by archival staff.
All computer prints have the disk number that they were printed from written on them. The disks are located in series 2. The prints made from the disks were distributed throughout the accrual based on content: book manuscripts, reviews, correspondence, etc. The computer file dates begin in 1980 and cannot be regarded as reliable. They appear on both the list contents and on the individual files in the top right corner. For correspondence the date that a letter was written which appears in the text content often varies by several years from the computer file date.
Series 1:
Correspondence. – 1939-2002; predominant 1985-2002. – 1 m of textual records and graphic material. – Title based on content of series. – Correspondence arrangement: four sequences: two alpha, family, subjects. The second alpha sequence ends with unidentified letters. The many letters found outside file folders have been placed appropriately as have the letters printed from disks by archival staff. In the first alpha sequence letters are assumed to be incoming; outgoing letters are noted. Numbers of letters above one are also noted. Correspondence is also found in other series. Two embargoed letters are described under Box 141, F.11.
