St. John the Divine Anglican Church (Cayuga, Ont.) fonds. -- 1873-1980. -- 34 cm of textual records.
Prior to the building of the first church in 1837, services were held in a schoolhouse. The first church was destroyed by fire in 1845 and a second church erected. It was replaced by a third church, built of stone, in 1896. The first services were held in the new structure on 2 July 1897. Further historical information is contained in Envelope 1 of the fonds.
The fonds consists of parish registers containing statistical records, services, Vestry and Parish Council minutes, lists and Financial Registers, correspondence and music. Most of the fonds has been microfilmed on 5 reels, numbered 33-35, 39, 163. For early statistical records researchers should also consult the St. John's Church (York, Ont.) fonds.
Title based on content of fonds.
Fonds on deposit. Ownership of the fonds resides with St. John the Divine Church.
Finding aid available in hard copy and electronically.
Researchers are requested to use the microfilms. They must also sign an agreement of use form.
Further accruals are expected.
