St. Aidan's Anglican Church (Oakville, Ont.) fonds. – 1952-1996. – 16 cm of textual records.
The church cornerstone was laid on January 31, 1951 under the leadership of Reverend F.C. Jackson, rector of St. Jude's, Oakville. The new church was dedicated in February of the following year and the first Rector, the Reverend William Mundy was appointed in June 1953. In 1954 St Aidan's Church became a separate parish and over the next four years it continued to expand with the building of a new rectory and various facilities (1958) including transepts, offices, classrooms and a kitchen. In 1968 it expanded again with the purchase of a lot adjacent to the rectory which was to be used as the Co-operative Nursery School playground. The early half of the 1970s saw two major setbacks for the parish, including the 1970 closure of the Canadian Forces Central Command Headquarters which was located within the parish boundaries, resulting in "rapid demographic changes" for the parish. Then on December 8, 1974, there was a major fire in the sacristy. The parish managed to survive these downturns and celebrated its Silver Anniversary in 1977. In 1998 the parish sold the rectory, with the proceeds invested and applied to the Rector's Housing Allowance. In 2001 the church closed its Nursery School (selling off the playground property three years later) and started a new relationship with the Seventh Day Adventists regarding the use of buildings and facilities. In 2002 St. Aidan's Parish celebrated its Golden Anniversary.
