Grace Anglican Church (St. Catharines, Ont.) fonds. -- 1921-1991. -- 41 cm of textual records.
Grace Church was founded as a mission church of St. Thomas', St. Catharines. A large house was donated by Colonel R.W. Leonard for this purpose. The mission was dedicated on 29 June 1921. It was not until 1938 that Grace Church became an independent parish. A church building was constructed and opened on 28 November 1939. In April 1956 part of the church was damaged by fire, was rebuilt and enlarged.
The fonds consists of parish registers containing statistical records and services. The fonds has been microfilmed on 3 reels, numbered 292-294.

Historical Notes
GRACE CHURCH MISSION was founded as a satellite congregation of St. Thomas' Church, St. Catharines. The first gathering was Sunday School meeting on June 6, 1920, on the lawn of a large house which had been bought by Colonel R.W. Leonard and given to the Mission. This house was to be Grace Church's home for the next nineteen years. The first Vestry Meeting of the congregation took place on November 24, 1920, and the formal dedication of the Mission was celebrated on June 29, 1921.
In 1938, Grace Church Mission achieved the status of an independent parish, and on November 28, 1939 a new Grace Church building was dedicated and occupied. The large Parish Hall/Gymnasium was added in 1952.
On April 22, 1956, the Church was severely damaged in a fire and the east (choir) end was enlarged and rebuilt as a consequence.
On November 30, 1976, Grace Church was the scene of the ordination of the first women as priests in the Anglican Church of Canada.
In its seventy years of existence, Grace Church has been faithfully served by seven Rectors, several curates and associated priests, and countless Churchwardens, parish board members, choir directors, organization leaders and dedicated volunteers.
