RESOLVED Google Scholar and "Invalid domain for site key" error message

Off-campus users may experience problems using Google Scholar to access McMaster Library resources. Learn about alternative approaches to use Google Scholar.

** RESOLVED **

The University Library has received reports from library patrons indicating that Google is prompting them to answer reCaptcha challenges and / or showing error messages that mention an "invalid domain for the site key."

The Library has added information to its Google Scholar database webpage with details on alternative approaches to using Google Scholar.

This Google block only becomes an issue when using the proxied version of Google Scholar (with MAC ID login) from off-campus.

The block will eventually be lifted by Google. But to avoid ReCaptcha or Invalid Site Domain errors, use the Google Scholar search form on the Google Scholar database webpage and watch this short video for tips on using Google Scholar.
