Topics, Methods, and Resources To "Do More with Digital Scholarship"

Digital scholarship encompasses a wide range of approaches, tools, and methods that leverage digital technologies to support research, teaching, learning, knowledge mobilization, and creative practice. Join us for a 1-hour introductory session, where we’ll address some of your fundamental questions about Digital Scholarship, including: What is it? How can I integrate it into my learning, research, teaching, personal learning and professional development? What tools and services exist to help me learn more, get started, or engage more deeply? Participants will learn more about Digital Scholarship topics and methods, McMaster’s Lewis and Ruth Sherman Centre for Digital Scholarship (SCDS), and the many ways in which the SCDS can support their work.

This session is ideal for students, faculty, staff, and researchers who are new to digital scholarship or interested in learning more about digital tools, methods, and support services available at McMaster University. No prior experience is required.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Describe digital scholarship and the variety of topics and methods it encompasses.
2. Explain how digital scholarship relates to and augments traditional disciplinary research and learning.
3. Describe the role of the Sherman Centre for Digital Scholarship in supporting research, teaching, and personal development.
4. Identify the digital scholarship tools, resources, and services that may be of relevance to your research, teaching, and personal development objectives.
5. Apply your new knowledge to get started with digital scholarship, whether by exploring further or accessing specific resources further or accessing specific resources.
