Open Educational Resources (OER)

Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning objects or materials that can be used for teaching, learning, assessing, or researching, and are openly available to (re)use. McMaster's OER program aims to support McMaster faculty, staff, and students in creating, finding, and using OER in their teaching and learning, to help make education more affordable and accessible at McMaster and beyond.

Open Educational Resources (OER) at McMaster

McMaster's OER By Discipline Guide lists a broad range of open educational resources organized by disciplines at McMaster University.

The OER Finding Service helps McMaster instructors to identify existing open educational resources that are relevant to the courses they teach. 

You can also consult our list of OER collections. 

The McMaster Open Educational Resources (OER) Grant Program provides funding and staff support to McMaster instructors interested in adopting, adapting or creating OER for their courses. The Program also offers an honorarium for the peer review of an existing open textbook. 

The McMaster OER Committee consists of students, staff, and faculty across McMaster University who share an interest in advancing a culture of “open” on campus. This collaboration aims to better understand the status of OER awareness, understanding, value and use on campus, and to develop recommendations and activities in support of OER integration and sustainability across the curriculum.
