(Oct 28/09) It should be possible to order books through RACER which are only available electronically through McMaster. While the electronic format is great in some respects, it also means that I have to have access to a computer in order to review a book (and this isnt always possible). As a graduate student, I really need my work to be as portable as possible. Any chance that McMaster will revise its RACER policy?

Library response: Thanks for your comment.  One of the reasons this policy is in place to help us manage our budget most effcetively. We don't have a budget large enough to permit the purchase of materials in multiple formats. The library has decided to select e-versions over print in many subject areas so that more people can access them at once, from anywhere, at any time. Another side to this is that you can access the e-book immediately, without having to wait for it to arrive through interlibrary loan. Many users appreciate this feature. Please feel free to email me (pottier@mcmaster.ca) to see if we can find a solution for you.  (Oct 29/09)
