A celebration of the open education movement is the motivation behind a lineup of virtual events offered by McMaster University.
Open Education Week, set for March 7 to 11, is an annual event highlighting the latest successes in open education, providing an opportunity for educators, practitioners, and students to gain an understanding of open educational practices and be inspired by the wealth of open educational resources available.
Staff at McMaster University Libraries and the MacPherson Institute are teaming up to present four exciting activities to mark the occasion.
“Now in its tenth year, Open Education Week is a time to celebrate the impact of open education on teaching and learning, and to showcase the latest work being done in open education, worldwide,” said Olga Perkovic, open education and scholarship librarian at McMaster library. “We are pleased to share some of McMaster’s contributions and initiatives in open education to the community, in particular, projects involving the adaptation and creation of open educational resources.”
Joanne Kehoe, lead educational developer at MacPherson Institute, says everyone on campus is welcome to attend the week’s free events.
“Our events are targeted to the areas of open education that we have seen the greatest interest and growth in,” said Kehoe. “Attendees will hear about the successes of others and leave with the tools and knowledge to get started in small, impactful ways.”
