World War, 1939-1945 collection. -- 1935-2005; predominant 1939-1945.

The collection consists of typescripts, correspondence, photographs,
scrapbooks, reports, sheet music, printed materials (Canada, Britain,
Australia and the United States) and uncatalogued pamphlets (some in German)
pertaining mainly to Britain's participation in World War II. The collection
is supplemented by books which have been catalogued for Archives and Research
Collections, including a full set of the British Official History of
the War, unit and regimental histories, biographies and autobiographies,
and volumes on the various battles and operations of the British forces.
There is also a poster collection which contains one photograph (#C24).

Title based on content of collection.
Collection was purchased from Bertram Rota ca. 1976. A framed photograph
(20-1998) of the Canadian School of Army administration was added to the
collection in June 1998, acquired from Dave Brown via Bruce Hosking.Memoisr
(04-2005) by McMaster graduates James S. Cross, "From the Palliser
Triangle to Confederation Square" and r by G.H. Edwards re his naval
life were added to the collection in April 2005. A Hamilton Honour scroll
(59-2008) was added to the collection in December 2007. A collection of
printed ration books (18-2008) was added to the collection in May 2008.
Two appeals for funds (17-2009) were added to the collection in March
2009.
