A numbered collection of bound manuscripts, most with their own item level descriptions. There is also access via a card index which was prepared several years before the item level descriptions. Manuscripts 2-21 do not have item level descriptions. They were written by Barry Brown and form part of his collection, although they are shelved with the manuscript collection. There is no manuscript 30 nor does it have an index card. It is quite possible it never existed. There are two manuscripts under number 49, a and b. Manuscripts 56 and 57 are books, which have been catalogued for the monograph collection in Research Collections. Manuscripts 86 and 99 are bound into books; manuscript 87 is bound into a periodical; as such all three have been removed from this numbered sequence. Manuscript 96 is a letter and is part of the Samuel Johnson collection. Manuscript 101 is part of the Anthony Burgess collection. The only manuscripts to be added to the collection in the future will be bound manuscripts dating from the eighteenth century or earlier.
