Lewis's De descriptione temporum which has been catalogued for Archives and Research Collections. C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 29 November 1898 and educated at Oxford. He was a literary scholar, critic and novelist, fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, 1925-1954 and afterwards professor of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge. In addition to scholarly works, he wrote popular religious and moral books such as The Problem of Pain (1940). However, he is best known as an author of children's books, the most popular of which is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950). He died at The Kilns, Headington Quarry, near Oxford on 22 November 1963. Title based on content of collection (04-1998).Acquisition and provenance not known for the letter to Mrs. Mesney. The letter to W. B. Burwell was acquired from Rabbi Bernard Baskin in April 1998. Finding aid available as part of collection level description in hard copy and electronically.
