Legal Instruments collection. – 1337-1825. – 83 items.

This collection consists of legal instruments, including deeds, charters, instruments of sasine, obligations, letters patent, wills, probate certificates, and manorial court proceedings. They are mostly handwritten, with the exception of two printed forms with details filled out by hand. Most documents are made of parchment, but some of the later items are made of paper. The arrangement is geographic – Britain, France and North America.

Quittance by the Constable of France of seigneurial rights rights relating to the exchange of land of the Mauregard. 15 November 1601.

North America
Lease by Hendrick van Aernum to Levinus Lansing of land in the Patent of Stone Arabia, Rensselaer County, New York. 17 Nov. 1794

Bargain and sale by John Jones and Jane, his wife, to Phinihas Howell of a tract of land in Lot 30 of the town of Niagara, Upper Canada, with endorsed memoranda. 1806.

Bargain and sale, by George Gallinger and Jannet, his wife, to Philip VanKoughnet of a tract of land in the County Prescott. 1840.

Crown sale. Grant to Joseph Cadea of 33 acres in the County of Leeds. 1860.

Bargain and sale, with dower, by Timothy Buckly and Julia, his wife, to Mary Anne Foley of a tract of land in the County of Leeds. 1863.
