Jacques Copeau and André Obey collection. -- 1924-1946. -- 12.5 cm of textual records.

Jacques Copeau was a French theatrical manager and director. He was a co-founder of the Nouvelle Revue française in 1908. He founded and became manager of the Théâtre de Vieux-Colombier in 1913. In 1921 he established the École du Vieux-Colombier in Burgundy. By 1936 he was producer at the Comédie-Française and its president in 1940. André Obey was a French dramatist, born 8 May 1892 in Douai. Between 1931 and 1933 he wrote four plays for the Théâtre de Vieux-Colombier, winning the Brieux prize for La bataille de la Marne in 1931. He died on 14 April 1975. The collection consists of correspondence between Copeau and Obey which has been arranged by sender and then chronologically.

Title based on the content of the collection.
The first accrual was acquired in 1975 from Mme. Marie-Hélène Dasté of Les Amis de Jacques Copeau. The second accrual was acquired in 1986 from Mme. André Obey and the Association André Obey.
