While
these numbers are certainly not representative of the music
that was published in Britain or outside of the British Empire
during the First World War, they do give a sense of the general
trends in Canadian music publication. Figures 1 and 2 show
raw numbers: songs that are present in multiple copies have
been counted multiple times. Those songs that could not be
securely dated have not been included in these two graphs.
In the Figure 3 (and in the written analysis of these songs),
songs that are present in multiple copies have been counted
only once.
