The Digital Research Commons Pilot team is asking the McMaster community to share its thoughts about the current state of digital research support.

Among the many ways to provide feedback this fall are attending a virtual town hall and completing an online survey.

McMaster University Libraries are inviting the community to take part in a year of engaging programming centred around environmental action.

After a successful first year of programming, Queer Study Buddies is returning to McMaster University Libraries.

Queer Study Buddies is a weekly study hall event that welcomes 2SLGBTQ+ students to study, socialize, and participate in organized activities. The goal of the program is to create a space that encourages queer students to build community on campus.

The Lyons New Media Centre opened on the fourth floor of Mills Memorial Library 15 years ago in September 2010.

This month, Lyons New Media Centre is celebrating an important milestone – 15 years of serving the McMaster community in Mills Memorial Library. 

The centre opened on September 13, 2010, with the vision of being a hub for all things digital media related. The space provides McMaster students and staff access to unique resources and equipment including 3D printers, computers with photo, video and audio editing software, a media production room, DSLR cameras and a variety of workshops.

McMaster University Libraries are hiring students to fill a variety of roles for the 2025-26 academic year. 

The job opportunities, ranging from library student ambassadors to archives and research collections student assistants, are now posted to Mosaic through McMaster’s student work program. Details on applying can be found below under the “How to apply” section.

The William Ready Division of Archives and Research Collections has acquired a complete first-edition set of one of the most important publications to emerge from 18th century Europe. 

The Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers, edited by Denis Diderot with help from Jean le Rond d’Alembert, has been described as the supreme work of the French Enlightenment. 

Public printing will be unavailable from 3pm-5pm Friday July 25th in order to perform a software update.

On July 23, 2025, the Libraries' Digital Experience team will perform planned maintenance work on the libraries' servers, starting at 7:00 am and ending at 9:00 am. The maintenance work will focus on applying general system updates. During the maintenance window, there will be some interruptions - and, at most, two outages - to the libraries' many public-facing systems, including the library website.

Omni and off-campus access, however, will not be affected during the maintenance period.
