A new online module series is launching at McMaster University to provide students with a ready-to-use resource for navigating artificial intelligence (AI) in their academic work.

The self-paced series, available through Avenue to Learn, allows students to explore how they learn, how AI tools work, and how different uses of AI can help or harm student learning. The modules can also be adapted and integrated by instructors into their own courses.

When Bronwen Glover meets people at a social event, she is usually asked what she does for a living.

When she replies that she’s a book conservator at McMaster University, her response is often met with great interest and a flurry of questions.

The 2026 installment of Hamilton Reads concludes this fall, but there’s still time to enjoy the highlighted book, enter the short story contest, and attend an event on campus.

This year’s book, The Migrant Rain Falls in Reverse, is by Toronto-based author and McMaster University alumnus and professor Vinh Nguyen. The memoir explores themes of migration, identity, and belonging, creating space for readers to reflect on the diverse experiences that shape communities like Hamilton.

Lisa Richter is the incoming writer in residence at McMaster University.

Poetry has been at the centre of Lisa Richter’s life for as long as she can remember.

She began writing poems in her early teens and continued throughout high school and university, seeking out workshops, courses, readings and literary communities wherever she could find them.

“I’ve made a life, rather than a living, out of writing,” said Richter. “And I think I’ve made writing out of a life.”
