The Digital Research Commons Pilot team is asking the McMaster community to share its thoughts about the current state of digital research support.

Among the many ways to provide feedback this fall are attending a virtual town hall and completing an online survey.

McMaster University Libraries' Institutional Repository, MacSphere, is currently only available to on-campus users and users connected to the campus VPN. The libraries' Digital Experience unit continues to investigate and will update this service disruption notice.

McMaster University Libraries along with UTS will perform upgrade and maintenance work in the Gilmour Hall Data Centre today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, starting at 10:00 am. The work will cause disruptions and outages for the following websites and systems, lasting approximately 2 hours:

  • Digital Archive
  • MacSphere
  • Shared Drives
  • Maps
  • Tiles
  • Shoah exhibit

Off-campus access and Omni will not be affected.

The work is necessary to support the libraries' digital infrastructure.

McMaster University Libraries have partnered with the McMaster Equity and Inclusion Office to create physical and digital book displays that promote inclusivity and accessibility as part of National AccessAbility Week. 

The annual week has been observed across Canada since 1988. The event is used as a time to reflect on the work being done to create more accessible and inclusive environments, while highlighting the contributions of people with disabilities. 

The McMaster University Libraries Digital Archives website is currently unavailable. Please contact the Libraries if you need to access content from the Digital Archives. Thank you for your patience.

Meet Victoria Flores, our ambassador for the 2025 spring/summer term at McMaster University Libraries.

The university libraries’ student ambassador program was developed to help students navigate services and spaces at the libraries by planning events, supporting social media initiatives, and teaching students about the many ways McMaster libraries can support their learning. 

Victoria joined the ambassador program in January for our winter term and will continue with us this summer.

Library professionals from across North America will connect at the annual Workshop for Instruction in Library Use conference, or WILU conference, hosted by McMaster University Libraries next month. 

The event runs from June 9-12, with sessions taking place in the Michael DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery and L.R. Wilson Hall on McMaster’s Hamilton campus.

Playwright Anna Chatterton has wrapped up her time at McMaster as the 2024-2025 Mabel Pugh Taylor Writer in Residence – a time that, she says, has been filled with community, growth and connections.
