The latest edition of the award-winning impact report from McMaster University Libraries is ready for the community to enjoy.
The fourth issue of the annual magazine highlights the people and projects of the libraries for the fiscal year of May 2024 to April 2025. This year’s editorial focus was inspired by the most significant change for the organization, with the coming together of Health Sciences Library and the former entity known as McMaster University Library.
The change means that the new group, called McMaster University Libraries, now consists of the Health Sciences, H.G. Thode, Innis, and Mills libraries.
“It’s been an important year with the coming together of our campus libraries, bringing the strengths of our two groups of employees into one collective campus-wide system,” said Vivian Lewis, associate vice-president and university librarian. “We’re so pleased to feature the people of our four libraries in this beautiful publication.”
Last year, the American Library Association recognized McMaster University Libraries for producing the best annual/fundraising report in its category in North America.
Among the many featured stories in this year’s report are:
- A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Health Sciences Archives.
- A look into the importance of the Queer Study Buddies program that is making space for 2SLGBTQI+ students.
- A feature about how the Libraries Sustainability Committee is helping to lead the way in environmental action.
- A behind-the-scenes look at how the libraries are boosting accessibility in campus classrooms with assistive listening devices.
- An introduction to some of the new colleagues at our libraries.
- A feature on the Bensen family, who are long-time supporters of our libraries.
- A glimpse into rare books, archives and maps recently added to the libraries’ collections.
