(Apr 24/09) Today I was studying in the library when a loud rattle startled me. To my chagrin, the smoothie bar was blending for up to 10 seconds at a time. Now Im aware that there are quiet areas available elsewhere but a library should never have mechanical noise like that. I study well with background chatter, but blenders have no place in a library. Shame on you Thode. These renovations have ruined the study/work space that students deserve.
Library response: The first floor of Thode Library tends to be noisey because of the cafe and group study tables. This of course does not excuse the noise for which you complain about.Hospitality Services has been contacted to see if a solution can be found for the noise of the blender.Quiet study area's are available in the basement and second floor and a silent study area available on the third floor.We welcome your comments and thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.
