Includes all Active and Historical standards from the 80+ volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Content is updated as standards are released.  The Engineering Digital Library provides access to Standard Technical Papers and Symposia papers, e-books, manuals, 8 journals, and a terminology dictionary.   

McMaster's subscription does not include standards from other bodies - e.g., UOP - which may be referenced but are not immediately available online.

This database is updated regularly with newly granted patents and applications opened to public inspection. The electronically available patent information consists of patent document images and bibliographic and text data.

The Library's subscription to CSA On Demand includes the following areas: construction and engineering; electrical; energy; environmental; health and safety; mechanical and industrial equipment; quality and business management systems.  We do not have access to the Information Technology and Telecommunication standards. The platform provides read-only access to the fulltext, and .pdfs can be downloaded on campus for offline reading.

 

European patents are searchable in the Espacenet database. Full text images of the documents are available as PDF files.

Searchable full-text/full page images of U.S. patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It is an alternative interface to searching USPTO. It is Google, so it is easy to search.

Provides full-text access to a wide range of news, business, legal, and reference information, including hundreds of international newspapers, legal and business publications, wire services, broadcast media transcripts, and trade/news magazines.

Free patent search tool that when given a patent number, will return an image of the patent as a single PDF file. NOTE: Easier to use for images than the USPTO (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) website which requires that a browser plug-in be downloaded.

Includes international and national patent collections. Search 71 million patent documents including 3.4 million published international patent applications (PCT).

New

Provides online access to a small number of ISO standards, supporting classes and active research projects.  Titles are available on annual subscription.

Searchable, full-text database from January 1, 1976 onward (full-page images since 1790). To view and print patents in PDF for free, a viewer software needs to be installed. It is available from http://www.uspto.gov/web/menu/plugins/index.html. Select TIFF - Tagged Image File Format (used for Patent images) - click on Free and following instruction. Once downloaded, you can view patents in PDF by clicking on Images when viewing a patent. Patents can only be printed one page at a time with the free plugin software.
