This site is a gateway to over 12,700 Web sites and databases worldwide, containing e-prints in basic and applied sciences, primarily in physics but also including subject areas such as chemistry, biology and life sciences, materials science, nuclear sciences and engineering, energy research, computer and information technologies, and other disciplines of interest to DOE.
Early Canadiana Online (ECO) provides access to over 80,000 rare books, journals, and government publications printed in the 1600s up to the 1940s, giving documentary evidence of Canada's early days. Content is in some 21 languages including English, French, 10 First Nations languages, and several European languages.
This primary source database began in 1997 as a pilot project to create an online digital library. Over three years, 550,000 pages of text were scanned from CIHM's historical microfiche collection. This part of the collection remains freely accessible to the public.

Early English Books Online (EEBO) contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from 1473-1700 - from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare and the tumult of the English Civil War.
The Text Creation Partnership, which provides highly searchable versions of the texts, made the first 25,000 works freely available in 2015. This interface, at the University of Michigan, allows proximity and boolean searching within the available works, but does not search the full EEBO database.
