on contents of the series. The materials consist of letters from children
writing to Claire Mowat about her book The Girl from Away.

Includes ts. note from Claire Mowat which reads: “These are book
cover illustrations drawn by children in a class in Preston or North Preston
Nova Scotia. This is the heart of the Black community in N.S. It’s
interesting to note that when they have drawn a picture of me (the author)
almost all of them have depicted me as being Black.”

Fan mail to Farley Mowat answered by Claire Mowat. -- 1973-1985. -- 4
cm of textual records plus 1 photograph; (predominant 1973-1975). Title
based on contents of the series. The materials consist predominantly of
letters from children regarding Farley Mowat’s novels Owls in
the Family, Lost in the Barrens, Curse of the Viking Grave,
etc. The letters from adults are usually requests for information on the
methods Mowat used in his research for his writing.

author’s book Pomp and Circumstances and extensive research
matter related to the book. The research material consists primarily of
agendas, brochures, facts about Scandinavian countries and royalty, invitations,
maps, menus, notes, programmes, etc. Also included is a ts. of The
French Islands (a sequel to The Girl from Away).
