Thirteenth accrual. – 1936-2007. – 3.36 m of textual records and other material.
Note: Includes 240 photographs, 126 drawings, 1 audio cassette, and 3 audio reels.

Series 1
Books, Articles, and Other Writing. – 1985-2004. – 1.34 m of textual records and other material. – 5 photographs. – Title based on content of series.
Series consists of draft manuscripts of Berton’s own published and unpublished writings, including books, articles, and poetry, as well as forewords and other writing for books by other authors. Note that Berton wrote fiction under the pseudonym Lisa Kroniuk. Also included are captions, correspondence pertaining to the creation of the manuscripts (for fan mail in response to particular books, see Series 3 Correspondence), flap copy drafts,  illustrations, notes, research materials, and other supplementary materials produced in the publications of his books. Most drafts were corrected, in pencil, by Berton or his editors.
Series has been arranged alphabetically by title, with articles listed under by title of the periodical and forewords by the title of the book for which they were written. For each title, any draft manuscripts have been arranged chronologically first, with supplementary materials being arranged alphabetically afterward.

Series consists primarily of fan mail (in particular for The Secret World of Og) and letters issued in the course of publishing his numerous books. The letters originate from Canada, the United States, and other countries such as South Africa and Japan. Both incoming and outgoing correspondence are included, with Berton’s replies often stapled to the letter he received. Note that there is some overlap with the Subject Files series. Correspondence includes letters, postcards, faxes, e-mails and including corrected rough drafts of Berton’s outgoing correspondence. Enclosures have been included with the appropriate letters and include photographs, samples of writing, printed materials, and forwarded correspondence. Some letters are accompanied by envelopes. Extents include enclosures but not envelopes. Berton correspondence may be addressed to or signed by Elsa Franklin, his agent, on his behalf.
