THE LLOYD REEDS MAP COLLECTION
The Lloyd Reeds Map Collection, located in Mills Library L102 (Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m.-5p.m.), has the following materials:
- city street maps from the early 1900s to the present
- city neighbourhood plans showing land-use from the 1970s to the present
- city directories listing the occupant of every building in Hamilton dating back to 1853
- historical maps of Hamilton dating back to 1791 like the 1876 Bird's-Eye View of Hamilton
- Fire Insurance Plans showing individual buildings for the years 1898 (online), 1911 (online), 1947 (hardcopy in Map Collection), and 1964 (hardcopy in Map Collection)
- aerial photographs from 1919 to 2014. Use the online index to see what photos are available for your area. Photos older than 50 years are out-of-copyright and available online
- topographic maps dating back to 1909

The City of Hamilton's online map website, map.hamilton.ca , includes the following:
- A "Map Gallery" with hundreds of ready-made maps of the local area in PDF format
- An "Interactive Mapper" which allows you to zoom-in far enough to see individual building footprints, change airphoto basemap layers from 1999 to 2015, turn off an on theme layers, annotate and more.
