The Lloyd Reeds Map Collection supports the geographic research needs of all students, staff and faculty at McMaster University.

"The Collection" was started more than 50 years ago by McMaster Geography Professor Lloyd George Reeds and today consists of more than 130,000 paper maps, 17,000 air photos and 3,000 atlases.

In its role as the Library's Maps, Data & GIS Centre, it provides researchers with access to a wide range of digital map and data sets, while also supplying access to workstations loaded with specialized cartographic and statistical software.

The Collection has its own flexible classroom with SmartBoard that seats up to 40 students and converts quickly to a study area with tables when not in use. Stereoscopes, planimeters and opisometers can be obtained from staff for use with maps and air photos in the Map Collection.

Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of the general public are welcome, however, some resources and services may be limited to McMaster affiliates only.
