Renovation Floor Plans

1st Floor (Research Help, Circulation, Reserve, Interlibrary Loans, Maps/Data/GIS, Digital Lab)

Update: Music collections moved to 4th floor (Summer 2009 & 2010; Digital Lab is now occupying L118; photocopier/printers have been distributed elsewhere on 1st and 2nd floors

The Bertrand Russell Research Centre moved into L111 in the winter of 2011.

2nd Floor (Reference collection, McLay Learning Commons, Popular Reading Collection, Vending machines)

Update: Research Help Desk moved to 1st floor (Summer 2010); carrels moved temporarily into Study Space at east end of 2nd floor

3rd Floor (Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Laptop Room)

Update: The southwest Quiet Study area was converted into a Laptop Friendly Room; the Silent Study space and Microform Room now is the home of the Collections staff; Lyons Media Centre has moved to the 4th floor

Update: Classroom AudioVisual Services (CAVS) has moved into L305.

4th Floor (Bookstacks)

Update: the large Quiet Study room has now become the home of the Lyons New Media Centre and the McMaster Health Forum;  the PS collection has been moved into compact shelving on the east end of the floor; the PS area has been replaced with study carrels; the Music book collection has been moved into compact shelving on the east side; scores and CD's can be found off the elevator lobby; the Q,R,S, and T book collections have been moved to Thode Library; the 800's have been moved into off-site storage; the Graduate Study rooms have been removed.

Update: L405 has been returned to a Silent Study Room with carrels (spring 2011)

5th Floor (Bookstacks)

Update: The Centre for Leadership & Learning (CLL) moved into the 5th floor staff area in the spring of 2011; several Librarians Office moved onto the 5th floor in May 2011.

6th Floor (Bookstacks

Upate: the BF (PSychology) book collection has been moved to Thode Library
