Why Does the Cisco VPN client seem to hang on "initializing connection.."

You should check the wireless adapter TCP/IP properties: "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

Additionally, in the 'network connections' view, be sure that neither the wireless device nor the Cisco VPN is indicated as bridged. If so, right click the item and select Remove from Network Bridge.
