RefWorks is asking me for a group code. What do I do?

  1. Go to the library homepage and on the left side of the screen under "Popular Links", click on RefWorks, and log in using your MAC ID or your LibAccess logon.
  2. You should now be able to get to the RefWorks login page without using the group code.
  3. Once you're at that page, simply click on "Forgot your log-in?", and RefWorks will immediately email your RefWorks password and the McMaster group code to the email address you supplied when you set up your RefWorks account.
  4. You now have the group code to use when needed.

This is not an answer to the

This is not an answer to the question. If you attempt to access refworks from the library web-page (from off-campus), refworks asks you enter the group code BEFORE you can access the login page (i.e. the "forgot your log-in" page). In other words, I can't ask refworks to email me the group code without giving it the group code...which obviously poses a bit of a poblem.

Hi - you might be confusing

Hi - you might be confusing the refworks login page with the LibAccess login page (confusing, I know!). When you click the refworks link from the library homepage, you are asked to login to LibAccess first (as you are with every e-resource you access from our site). Once you've logged into LibAccess, you get to the refworks login page, at which point, you can click the "forgot your login". Once you click that link, enter your email address and you will receive an automatic notification from refworks with your login details as well as the group code for Mac.

Of course, none of this actually helps if you've forgotten your LibAccess login! For help on that, check these FAQs. And if you're still having trouble with any of this, please don't hesitate to get in touch and we'd be happy to help out!
