How do I tell my pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from RefWorks or other sites?

RefWorks makes use of pop-up windows, so you may need to add it to your pop-up blocker's "trusted sites".

Internet Explorer 6.0

  1. open IE6
  2. on the IE6 toolbar along the top of the window click on ‘Tools’
  3. click on ‘Internet Options…’

  4. in Internet Options click on the ‘Privacy’ tab. Find the area labeled ‘Pop-up Blocker’ and click the ‘Settings…’ button

  5. in the text box labeled ‘Address of website to allow:’ type in: refworks.scholarsportal.info

  6. click ‘Add’, then ‘Close’

Internet Explorer 7.0

  1. open IE7
  2. on the upper right side of the IE7 window click on ‘Tools’
  3. move your mouse down to ‘Pop-up Blocker’, and click on ‘Pop-up Blocker Settings’

  4. in the text box labeled ‘Address of website to allow:’ type: refworks.scholarsportal.info

  5. click ‘Add’, then ‘Close’

Mozilla Firefox (1.0, 1.5, 2.0)

  1. open Firefox
  2. on the right side of the toolbar click ‘Tools’, then move your mouse down to ‘Options…’

  3. in the Firefox options panel click on the ‘Content’ tab

  4. next to ‘Block Pop-up windows’ click the button labeled ‘Exceptions…’
  5. in the allowed sites window, in the text box labeled ‘Address of web site:’ type: refworks.scholarsportal.info

  6. click ‘Allow’; the address you just typed should appear in the table of allowed sites; click ‘Close’.

Toolbar Based Pop-up Blockers

Yahoo Toolbar

  1. open your web browser (with toolbar installed)
  2. click the arrow next to the toolbar option labeled 'Pop-up Blocker'

  3. find the line labeled 'Enable Pop-up Blocker'; if it has a check box beside it click on this item to turn off the blocker; if there is no check box then the blocker is already disabled.

Google Toolbar

  1. ppen your web browser (with toolbar installed)
  2. on the Google Toolbar click 'Settings'

  3. click 'Options...'
  4. on the options screen click the 'More' tab
  5. on the list of options find the 'Popup Blocker' and ensure that the blocker is turned off by removing the check box beside 'Enable Popup Blocker'
