The primary function of Collection Services is the development and management of library collections for the University Library. All selections and recommendations for purchase are channelled through this area. The receipt of materials and accounting functions are also performed here. Materials are acquired in various ways: on an individual title basis, or through subscription or standing order. The expenditure of the total acquisitions budget is the responsibility of this unit.
McMaster University Libraries acquire print, nonprint, and electronic materials from multiple sources. The Acquisitions budgets for the University Library and Health Sciences Library are funded separately, and materials are ordered, received and processed independently as well.
