Statistics Canada has just released a new version of Finding and Using Statistics which has always been a useful publication for finding data and of wide interest in the educational community.
Finding and Using Statistics provides quick tips on locating information on the Statistics Canada website. Originally published in the 1980s and revised as part of the 1994 Statistics Canada Catalogue, this electronic guide has been created especially for users needing a step-by-step review on how to find, read and use data.

GeoTec Media has announced that the 20th anniversary of its GeoTec Event will be held June 18-21, 2006, at the Ottawa Congress Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. GeoTec Media is the publisher of GeoWorld magazine and developer of the Web portal GeoPlace.com. The conference theme, "Celebrating History and Innovation," marks the 100th anniversary of the Atlas of Canada as well as the 20th anniversary of the event.
The American Geographical Society Library, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries, welcomes applications for two short-term fellowship programs:
McColl Research Program fellowships.
This is a new short-term fellowship program available to individuals who wish to communicate their geographical research results to a broad, educated general audience. Awards of $3000 for four-week fellowships will be provided to support residencies for the purpose of conducting research that makes direct use of the Library, and results in publication in a mutually agreed outlet.
