McMaster's Libraries are once again pleased to host this year's Annual Toy and Food Drive, in support of the Hamilton chapter of the Salvation Army's Christmas Bureau. This year's Drive runs from November 21 to December 16.

The end of the "5-minute e-book" is coming!

We've heard from many of you that this collection of e-books, which allows a five minute preview before requiring you to request longer access and wait for an approval message, is a source of frustration. We agree that one of the major advantages of e-books and other online resources is immediate availability whenever and wherever you need them!

Aretha Franklin sang about it ... Rodney Dangerfield complained he never got any. Respect is a simple thing that our parents taught us, but sometimes gets forgotten about in day to day life.

RESPECT: treating others the way you wish to be treated.  Holding a door open for someone; listening to each others views; seeing people for who they are; not being selfish with space; following the rules.  These are just a few examples of respect in our daily lives. Small things can make a big difference.


Vivian Lewis appointed University Librarian

Vivian Lewis, who brings over two decades’ experience in McMaster’s libraries, is the new University Librarian. The appointment follows a global search to fill the vacant position.

Innis Library CLOSED for Renovations from August 12-September 2, 2013

Beginning Monday, August 12, 2013 until Monday, September 2, 2013, the Innis Library (Business) will be closed to the public for floor renovations. 

The following services WILL NOT be available/accessible during the renovation:


Dr. Brian Detlor named University Library’s first “Faculty Member in Residence”

Dr. Brian Detlor (DeGroote School of Business) will take up his post as the Library’s first “Faculty Member in Residence” starting July 1. For the next year, Detlor will conduct several library-related projects for both McMaster University Library and Hamilton Public Library as part of his upcoming research sabbatical.
