The University Library is pleased to report that Zack Batist (a PhD candidate from Anthroplogy) and Lorraine Chuen (a Masters student in Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour) have been awarded travel scholarships valued at $1,500 USD to attend OpenCon in Washington DC next month.

Significant electrical work required by the construction of the Wilson building has made it necessary for Mills Library to shut down for two days during the Reading Week period, Tuesday February 18th and Wednesday February 19th.
The Grad Study Room on the 4th floor of Mills Library is a small area designed for writing and research – complete with large tables and office chairs, a standing work area, comfortable seating, and, of course, internet access.
Since December 2013, Elsevier has been sending out take-down notices to research communities such as Academia.edu, to individual institutions, such as the University of Calgary, and to individual researchers. The content of these messages is the same, namely, that publicly posted Elsevier journal articles infringe on copyright and must be taken down.
Update: Functionality has been restored to the affected internet and web services, as of 11am today.
A number of IT services are experiencing technical difficulties January 6th, including wireless connectivity, email, the Mosaic website, MacVIP and SOLAR.
