McMaster Faculty and Graduate Student Direct Borrows from University of Toronto

Beginning in October 2009, University of Toronto Libraries implemented a fee for non University of Toronto faculty and graduate students for browsing and on-site borrowing of library materials. In the past, McMaster faculty and graduate students have been able to visit and access library collections in person at U of T at no cost under the Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement.

McMaster faculty and graduate students will continue to have free visitor access to the collections at the University of Toronto Libraries thanks to an agreement reached between the two organizations.

An annual fee of $300 will continue to be charged for each UofT card issued to or renewed by McMaster faculty or graduate students, but this fee will be paid by the McMaster University Library. Cards will cover the term September 1st through August 31st each year.

This arrangement will ensure that McMaster faculty and graduate students will continue to have access to the important resources they need to conduct their research. This agreement recognizes the importance of access to library collections and resources at both institutions and will be re-evaluated on an annual basis.

Direct Borrow Cards should be requested through the Loan Services Desk on the 1st floor of Robarts Library, speaking with staff at Reader Registration Services. Hours of operation:  Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm), Sunday (1pm to 6pm).
