Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) contains indexing, abstracts, and full text of articles from more than 600 periodicals, plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management, search engines, printed and electronic information sources, the information industry, scholarly communication, and electronic publishing.

Was formerly Information Science & Technology Abstracts (ISTA), and continues ISTA's coverage of information science and significantly increases the coverage of library science. 149 ISTA titles are upgraded to Core coverage, and 121 new periodicals are included.

Literary Theory traces the history of literary theory and criticism from Plato to the present. It contains over 800 works by more than 350 writers. Among the works included are: formal treatises on criticism, essays and manifestos, literary prefaces, theories of imagination, taste and aesthetics, and major examples of contemporary theory.

Gale's Literature Resource Center provides critical analyses, biographies, and bibliographies for authors from every age and literary discipline. The database covers more than 130,000 novelists, essayist, poets, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of the most-studied authors.  Content is pulled from several well-known print reference series including the Dictionary of Literary Biography, Contemporary Literary Criticism, and Contermporary Authors.

Includes the full-text of hundreds of market research reports from selected publishers.

Materials Business File covers industry news, product and process developments, plant development and construction, international trade data, government regulations, and management issues related to industries covered by other CSA Technology Research Database (TRD) subfiles. Begun in 1985 as an alerting service, the database now serves also as a historical business/industry reference. As of 2004, its coverage has been expanded to include business and industry information across the full scope of CSA's TRD and is no longer limited to the materials processing industries.

Medical database which searches journal articles, books, patient handouts, and First Consult simultaneously. Clinical, point of contact information as well as scholarly research information.

This primary sources database presents manuscripts of some of the most important works of European travel writing from the later medieval period. The chief focus is on journeys to central Asia and the Far East, including accounts of travel to Mongolia, Persia, India, China and South-East Asia; it also includes accounts of travel to and through the Holy Land.

OMIM is a comprehensive, authoritative, and timely compendium of human genes and genetic phenotypes. The full-text, referenced overviews in OMIM contain information on all known mendelian disorders and over 12,000 genes. OMIM focuses on the relationship between phenotype and genotype. It is updated daily, and the entries contain copious links to other genetics resources.
 

The MEROPS database provides a catalogue and structure-based classification of proteases (termed "peptidases" within the database), together with a wealth of additional information about them.

Methods in Organic Synthesis (MOS) is an alerting service covering the most important current developments in organic synthesis. It is designed with the synthetic organic chemist in mind, providing informative reaction schemes and covering new reactions and new methods.

The information is available in a printed publication containing around 200 new reaction schemes each month, as a text-searchable web database, and as a structure searchable database (via Accelrys Ltd).

The service covers such topics as:

• New reactions and reagents
• Functional group changes
• The introduction of chiral centres
• Enzyme and biological transformations    

Items are selected for inclusion in MOS only where there is detail of novel or interesting features in organic synthetic methods, so that there are no routine preparations to plough through.

Each MOS item includes reaction schemes, title and bibliographic details, and the items are categorised by five indexes: Author, Product, Reaction, Reactant and Reagent.

Contains all information available on journals and series on the Bibliography's Master List. Includes any regularly-published journal available to libraries or universities that prints articles on language, literature, or folklore, regardless of the frequency of the series. The Directory lists over 3700 journals and book series.

The NCJRS Abstracts Database contains summaries of the more than 200,000 criminal justice, juvenile justice, and substance abuse resources housed in the NCJRS Library collection.   Sources include U.S. and international publications, federal, state, and local government reports, books, research reports, journal articles, audiovisual presentations, and unpublished research. The NCJRS Abstracts Database excludes most legal decisions, opinions, and statutes.

Provides evidence-based information about complementary and alternative therapies.

Contains the full text of working papers from the National Bureau of Economics Research.

More than 38,000 article abstracts, 1,200 review abstracts, 13,500 book abstracts, and 50 software abstracts related to the New Testament and its historical milieu. Each year an additional 2,100 articles from more than 500 periodicals in numerous languages are added. In addition, approximately 800 current books are also summarized annually. Article coverage in the database dates back to 1985. New Testament Abstracts Online is a product of a partnership between ATLA and the Weston Jesuit School of Theology.

Nineteenth Century Collections Online provides full-text, fully searchable content from a wide range of primary sources. Archives published in the program include works in Western as well as non-Western languages and are sourced from rare collections at libraries and other venerable institutions from around the globe.

McMaster currently has access to four collections:

Part I: Asia and the West: Diplomacy and Cultural Exchange features a range of primary source collections related to international relations between Asian countries and the West during the 19th century. Documents include government reports, diplomatic correspondence, periodicals, newspapers, treaties, trade agreements, NGO papers, and more, offering a detailed look at the inner workings of international relations.

Part II: British Politics and Society includes tens of thousands of primary sources related to the political climate in Great Britain during the “long” nineteenth century.

Part III: British Theatre, Music, and Literature: High and Popular Culture features a wide range of primary sources related to the arts in the Victorian era, from playbills and scripts to operas and complete scores. These rare documents, many of them never before available, were sourced from the British Library and other renowned institutions, and curated by experts in British arts history.

Part IV: European Literature, 1790-1840: The Corvey Collection includes the full-text of more than 9,500 English, French and German titles. The collection is sourced from the remarkable library of Victor Amadeus, whose Castle Corvey collection was one of the most spectacular discoveries of the late 1970s. The Corvey Collection comprises one of the most important collections of Romantic era writing in existence anywhere – including fiction, short prose, dramatic works, poetry and more – with a focus on especially difficult-to-find works by lesser-known, historically neglected writers.

Contemporaneous letters and diaries, oral histories, interviews, and other personal narratives provide a unique and personal view of what it meant to immigrate to America and Canada between 1800 and 1950. Includes 2,162 authors and approximately 100,000 pages of information, and in selected cases, the actual audio voices of the immigrants.

Time period: 1840 to the present, focusing heavily on the period from 1920 to 1980.

Scope: People from many countries are represented, including more recent waves of immigrants from Latin America and Asia; includes several thousand pages of Ellis Island Oral History interviews.

Disciplines: Labour historians will benefit from details describing work in restaurants, meat packing plants, mines, railroads, and factories. Sociologists will find lengthy passages describing immigrant schooling, social life, domestic life, and community rituals. Students of literature will find descriptions of the events that inspired Upton Sinclair and Theodore Dreiser.

Content: Provides perspectives both on North America and on the immigrants

North American Theatre Online (NATO) is a comprehensive reference work covering all aspects of the Canadian and American Theatre. Its goal is to provide detailed reference information for every theatrical figure, every play, every theatre, every major production, and every production company, from Colonial times to the present, in both Canada and the United States.
To date it includes some 40,000 pages of major reference materials, together with records to more than 30,000 plays, over 57,000 people, 5,400 theatres, nearly 22,000 productions and 2,500 production companies. Each year the publisher will be adding more than 20,000 new records to these files. The file also includes some 10,500 images, playbills, postcards, scrapbooks and other resources.
North American Theatre Online also serves as a tool to cross-search the other Alexander Street full-text drama databases: American Film Scripts Online, Asian American Drama, North American Women's Drama, and Twentieth Century North American Drama. All the results will be seamlessly integrated into one search result.
