ASTM Standards and Digital Engineering Library
Coverage:Active ASTM standards only

Includes all Active standards from the 80+ volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Content is updated as standards are released.  The Engineering Digital Library provides access to Standard Technical Papers and Symposia papers, e-books, manuals, 6 journals, and a terminology dictionary.   

McMaster's subscription does not include the historical standards, or additional standards - e.g., UOP - which may be referenced but are not immediately available online.

Fulltext for over 70,000 ebooks from commercial publishers, including titles from Springer, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, and the Gibson Canadian publishers collection. In addition, there are 200,000 books from the Internet Archives, which include material digitized by a number of schools as well as a collection of Ontario government documents identified by the Ontario Digitization Initiative.

Note:  The fulltext for Taylor & Francis titles (Routledge, Psychology Press, etc.) is not yet accessible via the Scholars Portal platform.  These ebooks are linked from the McMaster library catalogue.

Provides guidance on citing sources, reference formats, grammar and usage, and manuscript production. Both the 17th (2017) and 16th (2010) editions are available online. 
Note that there are two formats in Chicago style: notes with bibliography, used for the humanities and some social sciences, and parenthetical citations with reference list, used predominantly by the physical, natural, and social sciences.

The International Nuclear Information System (INIS) is an international bibliographic database containing over 3 million references covering all aspects of the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, with an emphasis on engineering, energy, safety and life sciences. This free web site lists all substances and their properties which are reported on in the indexed Landolt-Börnstein volumes. In total, 160 000 organic and inorganic compounds are described by names, molecular structures, chemical abstract numbers and other identifiers.

McMaster does not presently have a subscription to 'Springer Materials'.
