Coverage:Coverage by date varies by publication. Some sources date back as far as the 1970s, but the majority of sources are indexed from the early 1990's to the present.
Note:
  • The default Academic Search on the home page does not search all content in LexisNexis. It searches a selection of newspapers (U.S. & international), law reviews, company profiles and U.S. federal & state cases. For a more comprehensive and/or precise search, click Search by Subject or Topic (just above the Academic Search box) and select from the resulting menu of sources/categories (e.g., All News). Once a category has been selected from the menu, click Advanced Options (appearing below the search box) to refine your search by date, segment, publication, source type, etc. (e.g., All News (English)).

ODESI: a Voyage in Data Discovery

Provides university researchers with access to datasets in a web-based data extraction system, and allows the downloading of data into external statistical analysis packages. The odesi project targets Statistics Canada datasets, datafiles from Gallup Canada and other polling companies, public-domain files such as the Canadian National Election Surveys and selected files from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). As of May 2008, content is still being added.

The site indexes and provides access to over 1.6 million electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) freely available from over 800 institutions worldwide. Indexes over 2 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses completed at accredited North American and selected European colleges and universities. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350 word abstracts written by the author. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150 word abstracts. Includes full-text access to many McMaster theses (send an email to request one). For other institutions, 24 page previews are available.
