ASTM Standards and Digital Engineering Library
Coverage:Active ASTM standards only

Includes all Active standards from the 80+ volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Content is updated as standards are released.  The Engineering Digital Library provides access to Standard Technical Papers and Symposia papers, e-books, manuals, 6 journals, and a terminology dictionary.   

McMaster's subscription does not include the historical standards, or additional standards - e.g., UOP - which may be referenced but are not immediately available online.

Compendex
Coverage:1969 to present

This database is the online version of the Engineering Index. It contains citations, abstracts and some full-text to more than 5,000 engineering journals, conferences and reports. Subject coverage includes chemical and process engineering, computers and data processing, applied physics, electronics and communications as well as civil and mechanical engineering. Online coverage is from 1969 to the present, and files are updated weekly. CRC Press ENGnetBASE: Ei Engineering Village 2 provides a search interface to bibliographical information of the CRC Press engineering handbooks. US Patent Office: Ei Engineering Village 2 provides a search interface to the freely available, full-text patents of the US Patent and Trademark Office. Full-text patents are available from 1976 onward, and full-page images from 1790. A plug-in software is required to view full-page images. A link to the European Patent Office is available. Website Abstracts: This is a searchable database of over 10,000 engineering web sites. It contains selected and indexed web sites by Ei (Engineering Information, Inc.) subject specialists.

CSA Standards

The Canadian Standards Association is a not-for-profit membership-based association serving business, industry, government and consumers in Canada and the global marketplace. McMaster Library's subscription to the CSA Standards include those in the following areas: construction and engineering; electrical; energy; environmental; health and safety; mechanical and industrial equipment; quality and business management systems.  We do not have access to the Information Technology and Telecommunication standards.

The CSA website does not render properly in Google Chrome. Internet Explorer is the only fully-supported browser.

The FileOpen plugin is required.  If you do not have this installed, you will see 'Done' and a blank screen when you download your standard.  You can get the plugin from the FileOpen web site.

McMaster Libraries online subscription includes access to full text published since 1988 and select content published since 1913.

Inspec (Engineering Village)
Coverage:1969 to present

Inspec is a bibliographic database that indexes world-wide literature on physics, astronomy/astrophysics, electronics, electrical engineering, control theory and technology, computers and computing, information technology, manufacturing and production engineering and materials science. The types of literature indexed and abstracted include journal articles, conference proceedings, books, reports and dissertations. The database is available from 1969 onwards and is updated weekly.

SPIE Digital Library
Coverage:1962-

The SPIE Digital Library is the most extensive database available on optics and photonics research, with more than 375,000 papers spanning biomedicine, communications, sensors, defense and security, manufacturing, electronics, energy, and imaging.  Our subscription includes conference proceedings from 1962 onwards, fulltext for ten journals, and some 200 e-books.

Some Proceedings volumes are not available online, either because they were not published, or because SPIE does not have the electronic rights.

Coverage:eBooks, 2005 to current (with some exclusions) | Selected series, 1997 to current

Includes online access to the 2005- book collection from Springer, along with select series back to 1997. Covers subjects in the areas of: behavioral sciences, biomedical & life sciences, business & economics, chemistry & material science, computer science, earth & environmental sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences & law, mathematics & statistics, medicine, and physics & astronomy

Exclusions: McMaster has not purchased the humanities and social sciences titles (primarily Palgrave, 2016- ), or the Energy collection. Select imprints, and the 'Methods in' series, are also not included in the purchase.

Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science (Morgan & Claypool)
Coverage:2005-

SYNTHESIS is a digital library of 50- to 100-page electronic books that synthesize important research or development topics, providing concise introductions to new fields and methods of staying current on developments at university, corporate, and government labs. 

McMaster has purchased collections 1 through 7:  green checkmarks indicate access. Individual titles are also accessible via the library catalogue.
