Knovel E-books - Civil Engineering & Construction Materials

Provides over 300 reference handbooks and fulltext e-books in Civil Engineering and Fire Protection and Safety.  Many of the handbooks include "productivity tools" that allow you to manipulate/sort data in tables.

Latino Literature: Poetry, Drama, and Fiction

Latino Literature brings together more than 100,000 pages of poetry, fiction, and drama written in English and Spanish by hundreds of Chicano, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, and other Latin authors working in the United States. Among the gems of the collection are nearly 800 items (poems, novels, and plays) that have never been published before. The Charities Listings is a searchable list of Canadian charities maintained by the Canada Revenue Agency. It can confirm if a charity is registered under the Income Tax Act and therefore eligible to issue official donation receipts. It also provides a charity's contact information and annual Registered Charity Information Return Form T3010, which includes financial information and activities.

 

Search by charity name, charity status (e.g., Canadian Registered Charities, Revoked Charities for Cause), charity type (e.g, education, health), geography (e.g., city, province, country) and more. Mass Observation Online : British Social History, 1937-1967

The Mass Observation project collected information about everyday life in Britain during the mid-twentieth century, reflecting attitudes, behaviors, and public opinion. Created by three British researchers as a personal research project, its focus changed as it served the government during the Second World War and then emerged as a market research organization. The findings continue to be valued for their insight into British society, although sometimes criticized for the self-selecting methodology  used to collect the data.
 

The online database provides over 2,000 File Reports (top-level summaries), Day Surveys from 1937-38, Diaries from 1939-67, and a range of Topic collections including: Household Matters and Household Budgeting, 1939-1950; Juvenile Delinquency; Korea, 1950; Radio Listening, 1939-1948; World Outlook, 1945-1950, Film; Reading Habits; Dreams; Religion; Victory Celebrations, and Capital Punishment.
