Item #1
Pay Roll Book #1, 1896-1905.
Book has number #1 and “W.M. Co. Ltd.” (Westinghouse Manufacturing
Company Limited) on the spine. It lists the name of each employee, his
position, his daily and weekly wage. The first list of November 5, 1896
gives 44 employees. Only 2/3 of the book has been used. Large format (37
x 42 cm) green cloth binding with red leather spine and corners.

Journal A, 1896. (1897-1903) Book has the above designation and “W.M.
Co. Ltd.” on the spine. The first page is headed “Hamilton,
Ontario, Feb. 10 1897” and a note indicates that the earliest entries
were made to close up the accounts of Paul J. Myler and to open the accounts
of Westinghouse Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Accounts list purchases and sales,
including those to Westinghouse Air Brake Co. Entries made only up to
p.138 of 196 pp. Large format (30 x 46 cm) cloth binding with red leather
corners.

Minute Book, W.V.E.A. (1919-1939) Minutes of Westinghouse Veteran’s
Employees Association. Front of the volume contains: index
to annual meetings, 1919-1939, index to annual picnics, 1921 - 1938, index
to presentations, index to constitution and by laws. Much of the volume
is taken up with accounts of annual meetings and picnics and there are
menus, programs and photographs of banquets and picnics pasted in. Typescript
throughout with 178 numbered pages and 7 black and white photographs loosely
inserted. Loose leaf format (23 x 28 cm) green covered book with red leather
spine and corners.

but lacking index section. Typescript throughout with 142 numbered pages.

Pensioners Picnic, June 28 1952”. Presented with the compliments
of Westinghouse News. Brown covered album, 26 x 18cm. with 23 leaves,
10 leaves only used for photographs, 20 snapshots total, without further
identification.

Westinghouse Employees’ Magazine, Volume 1, number 1, March
1943 to Volume 2, number 12, February 1945. Issues have been inserted
into black three ring binder and each has been tagged with the date. White
card attached to front cover of binder reads “Those were the days!”.

7 bound volumes of the earliest issues of the Westinghouse News
which were received with this accrual have been placed with the Research
Collections serials along with our existing unbound holdings. They are
as follows: Volume 1, 1947; Volume 2, 1948; Volume 10, 1953; Volume 11,
1954; Volume 12, 1955; Volume 13, 1956; Volume 15, 1958. Also box of unbound
issues. 1951-1970 in serials.

A Proposal for a Nuclear Power Plant to Atomic Energy of Canada Limited,
Prepared by Canadian Westinghouse Co. Ltd., February 1955. Typewritten
submission, 12 pp., with copy of covering letter dated February 14, 1955,
inserted into black 3 ring binder. The text portion of the submission
is followed by a selection of photographs showing exterior and interior
views of the plant: black and white, 20 x 26 cm., 40 images.
