McClelland & Stewart Ltd. First Accrual. Series X: Manuscript Inventory: Overview
Authors A-Z; Addendum

These finding aids have been constructed from inventory sheets completed by M&S staff members. The inventory sheets have been kept in binders. The boxes have been numbered, but the finding aid does not have numbers (except for the addendum). It is not possible to add the box numbers to this finding aid at this time.

Box numbering is as follows:
(Part I) Authors A to Z, boxes 1-520; (Part 2) authors A to Y, boxes 1a-45b; unidentified manuscripts, boxes 1-6 .

Addendum: Boxes 1-2 (actually contain Canada Council files and Stats Can information about books), followed by authors, Adachi to Zureik, boxes 2-39; Berton to Wylie boxes, 40-60. The information provided is only author-title. Some of the same titles and authors that appear in the initial listing also appear here.

Authors A-Z, boxes 1-520. Dates refer to when an M&S staff member completed an editorial file inventory sheet and filed the material. Filing dates go from 1970 to 1987. Numbers refer to the number of envelopes per title. If no numbers are listed, there is only one envelope. M&S staff generally filed alphabetically under the author’s name. However, sometimes they split files up – some ending up under the author’s name, some under the title, or in cases of two authors, some under one author, some under the other author. Files are also split between general editors (in the case of series) and authors.

Information is provided on the manuscript, galleys, page proofs, repros, vandykes, art work, correspondence (most correspondence not located with this series, but was filed elsewhere).
